ahead of time の意味と使い方
「ahead」は「前方に」「先に」「事前に」などという意味のある副詞です。
そこから、「ahead of ～」の形で「～の前方に」や「～の前に」となります。
この「ahead of time」は「時間的に前に」を表し、日本語に訳すと「予定より早く」や「あらかじめ」などになります。
また、「well ahead of time」の形にすることで、「ずいぶんと早く」と強調することもできます。
例文
He arrived ahead of time.
→彼は予定よりも早く着いた。
She arrived well ahead of time.
→彼女は予定よりもかなり早く着いた。
I arrived 15 minutes ahead of time.
→（予定の）15分前に着きました。

ahead of time と in advance の違い
同じような意味の言葉に「in advance」があります。
意味は「事前に」や「前もって」で、主に文末に置かれる副詞です。

in advance:
We had a date for lunch, and I said I’d call her ahead of time to decide where.

ahead of time と in advance は同じと見てよさそうです。
また、「well in advance」で「十分余裕をもって」や「かなり前に」と強調させることができるのは「ahead of time」も同様です。
